ABOUT THE FUND

The Altadena Soils Relief Fund (ASRF) is a fiscally sponsored project of Charity On Top, a Pasadena-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

ASRF was established in response to the Eaton Fire after it became clear that many underinsured and uninsured families faced a challenge few expected: the health and safety of the soil beneath their homes.

Long after debris is removed and rebuilding begins, wildfire contaminants may remain in the soil. Yet soil testing, biological treatment, and recovery services are often costly, underfunded, or not covered by insurance, leaving many families without the information or resources needed to make informed decisions about rebuilding.

ASRF was created to help bridge that gap.

Through fundraising, education, community partnerships, and outreach, we work to expand access to soil testing, remediation, and recovery services so residents can better understand their options and rebuild with greater confidence.

We believe recovery is about more than rebuilding homes. It is about protecting public health, restoring confidence, strengthening neighborhoods, and creating a healthier, more resilient Altadena for generations to come.

GOING BEYOND SOIL RESTORATION

The Altadena Soils Relief Fund was created because rebuilding after a wildfire involves far more than replacing homes.

Healthy soil supports healthy families, safe rebuilding, thriving landscapes, cleaner air and water, and stronger communities. When wildfire contaminants remain in the ground, residents deserve access to reliable information, science-based guidance, and practical solutions that help them make informed decisions about their property.

Many fire survivors discovered that soil testing and recovery services were either only partially covered, or not covered at all, by insurance. Others simply didn't know where to turn for trustworthy information.

ASRF exists to help change that.

By raising funds, expanding education, building community partnerships, and increasing access to recovery resources, we help connect residents with the tools, expertise, and support they need throughout the rebuilding process.
